A man is dead and the Pacific Rim Highway has been shut down in both directions near Ucluelet after a motorhome crashed into a truck Monday afternoon.
Police confirm the man behind the wheel of the pickup truck has died, while the conditions of others involved are unknown.
Unconfirmed reports suggested one occupant may have been trapped inside a burning vehicle.
The truck was fully engulfed in flames when crews from Ucluelet and Tofino arrived on scene.
A witness sent a photo of the accident scene to CTV News appearing to show the burned out wreckage of the motorhome with white smoke pouring from it.
DriveBC said Highway 4 would remain closed indefinitely with no detour as crews processed the scene.
