Victoria police are investigating after a dead body was reportedly found in the Gorge Waterway Tuesday afternoon.
Police said at around 2:20 p.m. that they were on scene near the Selkirk Trestle for a report of a deceased person.
A forensic team could be seen on a dock near the trestle and the BC Coroner's Service was also called to investigate.
Witnesses told CTV News that kayakers discovered the body and towed it to the nearby dock.
The site is not far from where a missing 26-year-old man was last seen earlier this month.
Duncan Pucker was last seen at 3:30 a.m. Feb. 4 in the 900-block of Arm Street, near the waterway.
Police including a dive team searched along the waterway and surrounding areas in the week following his disappearance, but found nothing.
They didn't release any further information on the body found Tuesday, but said more information would be released as it became available.
Police and the BC Coroner's Service have not linked the deceased person to Pucker's disappearance.
