Oceanside RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who was found dead off the east coast of Vancouver Island on Tuesday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says a sport fisherman discovered the body floating near Lasqueti Island around 7:30 p.m.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, the Royal Canadian Coast Guard and Mounties were deployed to the area and the body was recovered.
RCMP say the man is approximately in his mid-20s, has olive skin, dark brown shoulder-length hair, an athletic build and is about 6’ tall.
He was wearing a leather necklace with two shells and a red and black bead.
According to officials, police checks have not located anyone matching this description.
It’s not yet known when or how the man died.
