Fire crews have discovered a body in the burned-out wreckage of a home on Gabriola Island.
The Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze in the 800-block of Keith Drive at around 5:30 a.m. Monday.
The home was fully engulfed when they arrived and firefighters later discovered the body inside.
The BC Coroners Service is trying to determine a cause of death while fire investigators are still working to figure out what sparked the fire.
It’s too soon to tell whether the blaze is suspicious in nature, according to RCMP.
The identity of the deceased person has not been released.
