Three Winnipeg restaurants among the top 100 in Canada

Three restaurants from Winnipeg were named among the best in Canada.

Canada’s 100 Best magazine released its annual list of the top 100 restaurants in the country, with Deer+Almond, Peacock and NOLA cracking the list.

Deer + Almond was the highest-ranked Winnipeg restaurant, coming in at 50. It is the fourth consecutive year the restaurant has made the list. Last year, the Exchange District restaurant was ranked 34, which was its highest ranking.

Peacock, the newest restaurant on the list, ranked at 68. The Grant Avenue restaurant is run by Chef Edward Lam, who ran the Japanese restaurant Yujiro in the same space before it closed this year. Yujiro ranked 65th on the 2025 list.

NOLA made the list for the second consecutive year, sitting at 88. Last year, the St. Boniface eatery ranked 86th.

According to Canada’s 100 Best, the list is created with the help of 160 judges, including food critics, culinary experts, chefs and other food industry professionals.

Each judge submits their top 10 restaurant experiences of the year, ranking them based on service, décor, wine cellar depth and food quality. Points are assigned to restaurants based on each placement on a ballot and the weight of the votes in each province is proportional to its population.

Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Jordan Station, Ont., was ranked first on this year’s list.
