SaskAlert test rescheduled amid ongoing emergencies and evacuations

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has postponed a planned test of the SaskAlert system, originally set for Wednesday afternoon.

It was scheduled alongside similar tests in most other provinces for the Canada-wide Alert Ready system.

“At this time, our priority is supporting those affected by ongoing emergencies and evacuations. Real SaskAlert notifications will still be issued if required,” the SPSA said in an update online.

The cancellation comes amid major flooding concerns in central Saskatchewan, as a number of communities have declared local states of emergency.

The SPSA will notify the public when a new test date is confirmed.
