Thousands of Manitobans responded with festive enthusiasm when it came to naming the newest Goeldi monkey at Assiniboine Park Zoo—Holly. On Tuesday, Assiniboine Park Zoo said they received over 4,000 votes to name the Goeldi monkey that was born on Dec. 18. Holly won with 52 per cent of the vote. Joy, Noelle, Kat, and Ella were the other four choices. “We are so proud of Holly’s progress—she’s strong and becoming more independent every day,” the zoo said in a Facebook post. Holly was originally a name choice with a nod to the holiday season, since she was born a week before Christmas. The baby Goeldi monkey is ready to welcome more visitors, where she can be seen in Toucan Ridge with her mom, Evy, and grandmother, Lea.
