A man is in hospital after a stabbing during an altercation in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood late Sunday night. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 10:40 p.m. about an injured man on Van Horne Avenue near Victoria Avenue. “When the police arrived at the scene, they located a victim, a man of 53 years old,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “He was injured with a sharp object in the upper body.” The victim was conscious when he was transported to hospital. His life is not considered to be in danger. “According to the initial information, it was possibly a conflict that would have escalated between the victim and a suspect,” said Chèvrefils. “The suspect fled on foot before the police arrived.” A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to analyze the scene.
