The good news is that a big warm-up is on the way later this week. The bad news - cool temperatures will continue in gusty northerly winds on Tuesday. By late April, daytime highs should reach the mid-teens in Winnipeg and across the south. Expect much cooler temperatures on Tuesday, closer to 7 C or 8 C across most of the region, including Winnipeg and Brandon. The sky should brighten up, though, to more of a mix of sun and clouds in most areas. The Parkland region, on the other hand, will be cloudier and even cooler on Tuesday, with highs only reaching an unseasonably chilly 4 C, more the 10 degrees below normal. Scattered showers can’t be ruled out across the southwest on Tuesday afternoon either, although the chance is low. Flurries are more likely to fly across much of northern Manitoba, with daytime highs between 0 C and 2 C. The northernmost communities will remain below freezing, closer to -3 C or -4 C. The sky will remain cloudy across most of northwestern Ontario with temperatures closer to 9 C on Tuesday afternoon. Back in southern Manitoba, lows will drop well below freezing overnight into Tuesday. By this time of year, overnight lows should remain above 0 C. Temperatures will remain persistently cool in Winnipeg on Wednesday and Thursday, although the sun will shine. For anyone wishing for a warm-up, Friday is the date to circle on the calendar – the last day of April will be sunny with a seasonal high of 15 C. Even warmer weather is on tap on the weekend.
