It is another cool, cloudy and windy day in Winnipeg and much of Manitoba on Wednesday. Unseasonably cool temperatures, stuck in the single digits, will continue this afternoon across the south in gusty northwest winds. Daytime highs will only reach between 5 C and 8 C on Wednesday, when normal highs for late April are in the mid-teens. There is good news on the horizon, though - seasonal temperatures will return before the end of the week. While it will be a grey day for most of the south on Wednesday, Dauphin and Virden could be the bright spots, with the best chance of sunshine across the region. Meanwhile, the northernmost regions of the province will also see sunshine on Wednesday. Further south, flurries are likely in a line from Norway House and Thompson, stretching to Island Lake. Daytime highs will reach or slightly exceed the freezing mark Wednesday afternoon across the north, except for Churchill, where the daytime high is forecast to reach -4 C. Northwestern Ontario shouldn’t bank on much sunshine on Wednesday. Flurries are the better bet, although the chance is low. Expect daytime highs between 5 C and 7 C. Ahead on Wednesday night, temperatures will once again drop a few degrees below the freezing mark, leading to one more cool day on Thursday. Just in time for the end of April, a big warm-up arrives on Friday, with seasonal, mid-teens temperatures returning in the sunshine. Saturday will be cloudy before sunshine on Sunday. Overall, conditions will be pleasant for the first weekend in May in Winnipeg.
