Victoria Police have taken one person into custody, but they're still looking for a knife used in a stabbing in the capital city early Thursday.
Officers are urging the public not to touch the weapon, and immediately call 9-1-1, if they spot it in an area around the downtown core, close to the Victoria courthouse.
The attack occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 800-block of Burdette Avenue, and police say they chased a man through several alleys and parking lots before arresting him about a block from the scene of the stabbing.
They describe him as a person of interest and say he is known to them.
Investigators are not saying what may have sparked the violence, but believe it is an isolated incident.
The victim has had surgery and remains in hospital for what detectives describe as non-life threatening injuries.
