SASKATOON — Breakthrough artist Cameron Whitcomb has taken home the gold trophy for entertainer of the year from the 2026 Canadian Country Music Awards. The win marks the third of the night for the musician from Nanaimo, B.C., after securing the awards for best album and male artist of the year. Whitcomb has said he draws inspiration from his personal struggle with addiction to drugs and alcohol, and that his journey resonates with fans. The 23-year-old has said fans have played a role in helping him get sober. Ontario’s Josh Ross meanwhile captured his third consecutive single of the year trophy for “Hate How You Look,” about the pain of seeing an ex-lover move on. The awards show, held at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, got underway Saturday with a rousing medley of Canadian hits by hosts James Barker Band from Woodville, Ont.
