There are dozens more cancelled WestJet flights at the Vancouver airport on B.C. Day, despite the airline reaching a tentative deal with striking flight attendants. In a statement Monday, WestJet warned that some flights “may continue to be affected as operations recover.” The company confirmed 49 scheduled flights have been cancelled at Vancouver International Airport, but said another 21 are expected to take off as scheduled. “WestJet Encore flights operated on Q400 aircraft, as well as codeshare flights operated by airline partners, remain unaffected,” the airline said. Earlier in the day, the company announced a tentative agreement had been reached with the approximately 4,400 flight attendants represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The deal includes a pay bump, increases in meal allowances, and a top-up for cabin crew while they’re on duty. The union’s strike began Friday, and was followed by a lockout by the employer—and a wave of cancellations on a busy holiday travel weekend in B.C., when YVR had been anticipating an average of 85,100 travellers per day.
