Ontario Provincial Police say two people died in a collision on Highway 401 near Ganonoque, Ont. early on Monday. According to a news release from OPP, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on the highway just after 12:30 a.m. OPP say their initial investigation indicates a transport truck was disabled on the right shoulder of the westbound lanes when it was struck by a passenger vehicle travelling westbound. Two passengers in the passenger vehicle, a 47-year-old and a 73-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital for assessment, OPP say. The driver of the transport truck did not sustain injuries. OPP ask anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to contact the Leeds County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
