A home near Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park was behind police tape for much of the day Saturday after an incident that sent a man to hospital earlier in the week. The home is located in the 6000 block of Elgin Avenue, and police first arrived at the scene Friday night, according to neighbours. When CTV News visited the home on Saturday afternoon, the property was surrounded by police tape, and police vehicles could be seen parked outside both the front and back entrances. The home’s front yard appeared overgrown, and one of the windows was boarded up. A trailer could be seen in the backyard. In an email, Burnaby RCMP said they were called to the 5500 block of Oakland Street—about a block away from the home—shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, for “a report of a man with serious injuries, consistent with being assaulted.” The man was taken to hospital in stable condition and is receiving treatment, police said. The Burnaby RCMP Investigative Support Team took over the case and tracked the alleged assailants to the Elgin Avenue house, where they arrested three suspects with the help of the heavily armed Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team Friday night. “All three suspects remain in custody, and police remain on scene as the investigation continues,” police said.
