RCMP say they're investigating reports that the man wanted in connection with an armed robbery on a Saanich bike trail has made his way to Nanaimo.

Saanich police issued an alert Monday warning that Michael Godolphin, 37, was considered armed and dangerous after he pulled a gun on a staff member outside of a London Drugs at the Saanich Centre on Tuesday.

Godolphin then allegedly headed to the Lochside Regional Trail where police say he robbed a cyclist of their black electric bike.

The incident sparked a manhunt on the South Island for Godolphin, who is wanted on a charge of robbery with a firearm as well as warrants for other offences.

On Wednesday, Nanaimo RCMP said there were reports of Godolphin at a London Drugs in Port Place Mall where he was said to be acting suspiciously.

Police didn't catch him but about two hours later, they received a report of Godolphin at another store in Nanaimo's Woodgrove Mall.

In at least one of the sightings witnesses said he was on a black electric bike.

Godolphin is described as 5'7", 175 pounds with a shaved head, tear drop tattoos under his right eye and a written tattoo encircling the back of his neck.

He was last seen wearing black Adidas pants with three white vertical stripes, a black T-shirt and black hooded jacket with white writing on the chest.

Investigators have said it's the same Michael Godolphin sentenced to jail time after a standoff with police in Langford in 2016.

He pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a controlled substance in that incident.
