Two people walked away without any injuries after a small fire broke out in their Victoria apartment Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at an apartment building on Quadra St. near Topaz Ave. before 7 a.m.
Fire officials said smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived on scene.
Firefighters took out a window to get a ventilation point.
Two people were inside the apartment when the fire broke out, but they managed to escape with no injuries.
Victoria Fire Department Deputy Chief Peter Stephenson told CTV News the fire could’ve been a lot worse.
“The crews used very little water. The smoke damage is confined to one room with marginal [damage] to the other parts of the suite,” Stephenson said.
The two individuals will be staying with a relative for the time being.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
