The West Shore man who pleaded guilty to killing his mother in her home two years ago has been sentenced to 12 years in jail less time served.
Michael McCormick, 38, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the July 2014 death of his mother, 64-year-old Pamela Dyer.
He said he did it because he was in a drug-induced psychosis at the time and didn’t think it was his mother.
Pathologists said Dyer likely died from being asphyxiated.
She was found with 25 rib fractures and had also been stabbed by a knitting needle.
In court Monday, a judge handed down the sentence of 12 years less time served, which works out to about eight-and-a-half years behind bars.
