A Saskatoon man has been arrested after assaulting a police officer. Around 7:30 a.m. Aug. 10, an officer involved in traffic control for an investigation in the 400 block of Central Avenue attempted to stop a vehicle from continuing down an alley. The driver didn’t stop, and accelerated towards the officer, hitting him with the side mirror before fleeing the scene. The 30-year-old driver was identified through an investigation. On Aug. 12 he was seen riding a bicycle near Central Avenue and 105th Street West. He again tried to flee and was arrested after a brief altercation. He’s been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer, Hit and Run, Resisting Arrest and Breaching Court-Imposed Conditions. The extent of injuries the Constable struck by the vehicle suffered is unknown at this time.
