Nanaimo Regional General Hospital will temporarily stop using IHealth electronic health records until improvements are made to the system.
The computerized ordering of medications, lab tests and diagnostic images under the IHealth system was implemented last March.
For month physicians have voiced their concerns over the program.
“Frankly ever since this has been implemented we’ve identified significant safety concerns about it and there’s been a clear loss of efficiency,” said Dr. David Forrest with the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Medical Staff Association.
The Nanaimo physician added staff at the hospital are committed to seeing if the process can be re-designed to meet their needs.
