The search for a missing Victoria woman has ended in tragedy.
Victoria Police confirmed a body found on Mount Doug Beach Thursday afternoon is that of missing 61-year-old Ruth Kilgore.
Kilgore was last seen by her family Thursday morning. They described her disappearance as being out of character.
No foul play is suspected in Kilgore’s death, which police are calling a “family tragedy.”
Police shut down access to Mount Doug Park for hours as they investigated the discovery.
Victoria Police later sent out a media release saying they had ended the search for Kilgore after she was found deceased.
The BC Coroners Service was called out to help identify the body.
