A Victoria clinic for youth working to make the health care system less complicated is set to hold its grand opening on Tuesday.
Mental Health and Addictions Minister, Judy Darcy, and Finance Minister, Carole James, will be there for the morning unveiling of the Foundry Centre.
The Victoria Youth Clinic’s expansion to the Foundry network started months ago.
CTV Vancouver Island spoke with staff there in October, when the mental health hub for youth and families moved to the Douglas Street location to expand the services it’s been bringing to the community for decades.
“So we have Need 2 coming in, which is suicide education and prevention,” said Victoria Youth Clinic executive director, Barbara Thompson, at the time. “And we have the early psychosis intervention teams from Island Health coming in in partnership. And we have counselling with MCFD, Ministry of Children and Family Development.”
The hub is a gateway to doctors, counsellors, outreach workers and was even carving out space for an art therapy room.
“It just makes it easier for youth,” said Dr. Jennifer Lee in an October, 2017 interview. “It’s [going to] make things more efficient.”
