Police say the suspicious death of a man in Sayward last weekend was likely the result of a targeted hit and are now looking for witnesses to advance their investigation.
Officers found the man’s body inside of a grey 2009 Honda Accord just before 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12.
The car was found on the west side of a one-way bridge into the village.
Investigators have identified the victim as 30-year-old Saanich resident John Dillan Brown.
He was last seen leaving a home in Campbell River at around 1 p.m. Friday in the Honda Accord with license plate BR126G.
He was then reported missing Saturday night, RCMP said.
An autopsy performed earlier this week determined his death to be a homicide, and police say it appears to have been targeted.
His exact cause of death remains unclear.
The public is not believed to be at risk.
Anyone who saw Brown or his vehicle between 1 p.m. Friday and 7:45 p.m. Saturday are asked to call Sayward RCMP at 250-282-5522 or Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
