St. Thomas police say a multi-month drug trafficking investigation has resulted in six arrests, dozens of charges and the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine and other controlled substances with an estimated street value exceeding $32,000. Police announced the conclusion of Project Apex on Thursday, saying it began in March 2026 after investigators identified individuals suspected of trafficking fentanyl and other drugs to people considered at heightened risk of exploitation and drug-related harm. “Fentanyl continues to pose a serious threat to individual and community safety,” police said in a release. “Its presence creates a significant risk of overdose and death, particularly for people experiencing vulnerability.” Between the launch of the investigation and August 2026, officers arrested six people and laid a combined 64 criminal charges. Police did not immediately release the identities of those charged. The case remains before the courts.
