A dangerous offender hearing is underway in London for man convicted in the brutal stabbing death of his one-time friend. In July of 2024, Robert Charnock, 43, was found guilty in the vicious stabbing death of 56-year-old Kenneth Wallis. Both men had been living at a rooming house on Wharncliffe Road South at the time of the attack. During the trial the court heard how Charnock used a large knife or machete and that the victim suffered more than 20 wounds. Charnock had plead not guilty to second degree murder and was eventually convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter. During the trial, the court heard that the accused has had a history of mental health issues. The hearing which is slated to last five days will decide whether or not Charnock should spend an indeterminate amount of time in custody.
