A young Bancroft man is dead after a watercross event went horribly wrong on Sunday. Provincial police say two snowmobiles crashed on a pond at Pinestone Resort Golf and Conference Centre in Haliburton around 1:30 p.m. A 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. “The cause of death is still under investigation but not deemed suspicious,” said OPP’s Ashley Taylor, Regional Media & Communications Coordinator. “I do believe it was an annual event,” Taylor added. Pinestone Resort told CTV News it will not comment on this tragedy out of respect for the family of the deceased. The Ontario Provincial Police’s Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team (TIME) is investigating the collision.
