As Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest draws nearer, we are getting a better idea of what to expect during the iconic celebration of Bavarian culture. Part of downtown Kitchener will once again transform into “Willkommen Platz” from Oct. 9 until Oct. 11. It features a large, open air biergarten, German cuisine, a vendors’ market and the Hans Haus pop-up shop. Live musical performances will hit the stage near City Hall throughout the weekend. Canadian singer Bif Naked, best known for songs like I Love Myself Today, Spaceman and Lucky will take to the stage at 8:30 p.m. Friday, followed by Lee Aaron at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Oktoberfest mainstay Walter Ostanek will also be appearing several times during the three-day festivities. A full entertainment schedule is available online. The official keg tapping ceremony will be held on Oct. 9 at noon at Carl Zehr Square. Many Festhallen tickets are already on sale.
