Another Hollywood A-lister has given a massive boost to Victoria tourism on social media – touting the city’s sights as some of the best in the world.
Josh Brolin and his wife paid a visit to the B.C. capital this week, documenting part of the trip on Instagram.
Brolin, who plays Cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel, first booked a room for one night at the historic Huntingdon Manor along the Inner Harbour.
“Mr. Brolin called out of the blue, was looking for a place to stay,” said Dominic Monet, operations manager. “We obviously found out when he had to give his name for the reservation.”
The manor was a big hit with the couple. On her Instagram page, Kathyn Brolin wrote “So homey…The most beautiful B&B I’ve ever seen.”
Other posts place the couple at nearby Fisherman’s Wharf.
They also hit Fort Street for a stop at Russell Books, where the shop’s massive collection kept them busy for hours.
He picked up books by Ekchart Tolle and F. Scott Fitzgerald and even posed for a photo while reading a book by Barbara Streisand, who’s married to his father.
But there was more to come in the couple’s whirlwind tour.
“He said that they only had an hour or two left in Victoria and asked for a couple of places that they could check out on their last little bit of time,” said Russell Books manager Barb Merrick.
She said she recommended Craigdarroch Castle and Government House and sent the pair on their way.
While it’s unclear if the Brolins made it to the Victoria landmarks – it certainly appears they made the most of their quick trip to the island.
Brolin is just the latest celebrity to be spotted around the Capital Region.
Last week, megastar Johnny Depp was spotted at Hatley Castle in Colwood to film his movie Richard Says Goodbye, gladly posing for pictures with fans.
Brolin is currently filming the Deadpool sequel in Vancouver.
