A teen girl died in Victoria earlier this week and her death may be linked to illicit drug use, the BC Coroners Service has confirmed.
The girl died on Wednesday, Dec. 21, the coroner’s service told CTV News.
Her identity has not been released.
The coroner’s service did not confirm whether the opiate fentanyl was suspected in the death.
More than 755 people have died of illicit drug overdoses in the province this year, a record number.
Fentanyl has been linked to about 60 per cent of those deaths.
