A fire has destroyed a building on the Chemainus waterfront.
Four halls were dispatched to Jones Marine, a towing company on the harbour, early Wednesday morning.
No one was inside the two-storey building at the time and no injuries were reported, fire officials say.
Crews will spend the day mopping up to make sure there were no flare-ups.
Chemanius’ deputy fire chief says the blaze started in the maintenance shop and caused “significant structure damage.”
“There’s no fuel leaking into the harbour at this time,” said Kevin Millard. “Ministry of Environment is attending, but they’ll just give it a once over just cause we’ve over top of the water as a precaution.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
