Environment Canada has issued a red-level tornado warning for parts of Yellowhead County which include Edson, Peers and Sundance Provincial Park. Meteorologists say a severe thunderstorm that could possibly produce a tornado was 25 kilometres north of Edson and moving east at 45 km/hr as of 5:35 p.m. Anyone in the path of the storm is asked to take immediate cover. Tornado warnings are issued when a thunderstorm is either producing or likely to produce a tornado. Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park are under an orange watch for severe thunderstorms as of just before 7 p.m. Environment Canada says there is risk of a tornado, if not severe storms, lightning and hail in certain areas.
