A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Edmonton area and parts of northern Alberta. An alert from Environment Canada said conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon that may produce strong winds, hail and heavy rain. The alert was issued for areas as north as Lac La Biche and as south as Wetaskiwin, spanning across the province to the B.C. and Saskatchewan borders. Environment Canada advises that residents prepare for severe weather.
