Edmonton police officers shot and killed a man Sunday morning in southwest Edmonton. In a media release at 10:10 p.m., the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said officers were called to a home near Donsdale Drive and 45 Avenue, where it had been reported that a man with a gun had entered and shot a woman and infant. EPS said arriving officers found injured people outside. When police went to contain the home, EPS said a man opened the front door with a gun in his possession. When the man did not follow “verbal direction,” EPS said, three officers fired their guns at him. The man was arrested with the help of EPS tactical and canine units. EPS said a tactical medical support team attempted life-saving measures, but the 36-year-old man died on scene. Two women and one infant were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
