For years, the underground portion of Edmonton’s LRT system has been a dead-zone for cell phone users. It was impossible to send a text message, check email, or doomscroll on social media. But now that has changed. The city started rolling out Phase 1 of its Underground Cell Service project at the end of August. Cell phone users on the Bell and Telus networks or their sub-brands now have access to service underground, and the city says more providers will be added in the coming weeks. Government Centre, Corona, Bay/Enterprise Square, Central, and Churchill stations on the Metro and Capital LRT lines make up Edmonton’s underground LRT stations.
