An Alberta MLA is travelling south of the border amid a heated trade war between Canada and the U.S. Jennifer Johnson, MLA for Lacombe-Ponoka will be in Saint Paul, Minn., from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3 to attend the Midwestern Legislative Conference. A statement from the Government of Alberta says Johnson will meet with legislators, government officials and industry leaders to “strengthen relationships, advocate for Alberta’s interests and advance shared priorities in trade, energy, agriculture and economic growth.” “We will highlight how Alberta’s resources, innovation and expertise can help drive growth and strengthen supply chains,” said Johnson in the statement. The conference is put on by the Council of State Governments Midwest, a forum that gathers lawmakers and government leaders from 11 states as well as Saskatchewan. Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario are affiliate members.
