One of the South Island’s biggest traffic headaches won’t be going away anytime soon.
The replacement of the Wilkinson Bridge in Saanich was supposed to be completed this month.
On Friday CTV News learned the project won’t be finished until February.
The city said the delay was caused by weather and what it calls “coordination conflicts.”
Wilkinson Road between Mann Avenue and Greenlea Drive has been closed since June.
The bridge improvement project includes new bike lanes, sidewalks, trails and upgrades to existing utility infrastructure.
The Colquitz Trail will also be extended.
According to city research, around 15,000 vehicles used Wilkinson Road before it was shut down for construction.
