Island Mounties are searching for a person of interest after clothes were shoved down a toilet at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, causing $50,000 in damage.
The incident happened on May 27, according to Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
The clothes were put down a men’s public washroom toilet in the foot passenger part of the terminal, causing a severe backup of the facility’s sewer system.
An office below the bathroom was flooded with sewage and suffered extensive floor and drywall damage.
The damage is estimated at $50,000, BC Ferries spokeswoman Deborah Marshall said.
It is unclear what types of clothing or how many items were flushed down the toilet.
Mounties have released two pictures of a man identified as a person of interest in the case.
The person who flooded the bathroom may face charges of mischief over $5,000.
Anyone who recognizes the person of interest or who has any information about the incident is asked to call RCMP at 250-656-3931 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
