Are you creative and family-oriented?
The City of Victoria is turning to the public for unique and fun ideas to transform Centennial Square into a family-friendly space this summer.
The “Pop-Up @ the Square” competition is looking for a team to design, build and install a playful feature that appeals to people of all ages.
Participants are encouraged to explore unconventional approaches when coming up with ideas.
The city is teaming up with the Downtown Victoria Business Association for the competition.
“Centennial Square if a focal point in our downtown core and having a fun, creative play structure is a feature that will continue to add to our downtown vibrancy and give families a place to play as they plan their downtown visit,” said DVBA Executive Director Kerri Milton.
The winning team will receive a $5,000 award and up to $50,000 to install the “imaginative feature” in Victoria’s square.
The public will get to have its say in the competition by voting for the People’s Choice Award.
The cut off for design submission is Mar. 30 at 4 p.m.
The winning team will be announced on May 2 and the installation of the temporary artwork will take place in early July.
