Labour Day weekend is coming up. Here’s what’s open and closed in Calgary

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed in Calgary over the Labour Day long weekend:

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit will be operating on a Sunday level of service on Labour Day (Monday, Sept. 7).

The Blue Line CTrain will be closed between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough stations starting on Saturday until the very early hours of Tuesday.

Replacement shuttle buses will provide service to all impacted stations, including:

• A Blue Line shuttle between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough;
• A separate shuttle to access the Zoo from Bridgeland/Memorial; and,
• An express shuttle providing direct service between City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough only.

Calgary Pride Parade detours

On Sunday, there will be detours downtown due to the Calgary Pride Parade.

Shuttle service stops at City Hall/Bow Valley College Station will be moved to a single stop on Fifth Avenue S.E. for the day.

The shuttle service schedule for City Hall/Bow Valley College is as follows:

• Saturday and Labour Day - Catch the regular CTrain replacement and Express shuttles from separate stops at City Hall/Bow Valley College Station.
• Sunday - Catch both shuttles from a single stop, next to the pedestrian overpass on Fifth Avenue S.E., just east of Macleod Trail S.E., until the end of the parade.

Once the roads re-open, the original shuttle stops will be reactivated at City Hall/Bow Valley College Station.

Only the CTrain shuttle stops at City Hall will be impacted by these specific detours on Sunday, and the CTrain replacement shuttles will follow their usual routing outside of downtown.

Parking

No payment is required for on-street parking in ParkPlus zones on Labour Day, and weekend rates will be in effect at all Calgary Parking Authority parkades and surface lots.

Regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark, Heritage Park and Stampede Park.

The City of Calgary’s impound lot will be closed on Labour Day.

Arenas and pools

City of Calgary arenas, pools and fitness centres will be closed on Labour Day.

Calgary Soccer Centre

The Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed on Labour Day.

Indoor pools, fitness centres and arenas

Indoor pools will be closed on Labour Day, as will fitness centres and arenas.

Leisure centres

Southland Leisure Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Labour Day.

The Village Square Leisure Centre is closed for upgrades and repairs until the end of 2027.

City of Calgary art centres

The Wildflower Arts Centre and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed on Labour Day.

Landfills

All three Calgary landfills will be open on Labour Day.

The East Calgary Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Spyhill and Shepard Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
