Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers that excessive tinting of the windshield could lead to fines. Ottawa OPP Const. Michael Fathi said officers charged several drivers this week with having tint on their front windshields. Fathi said the only tint on your front windshield should be what was installed by the manufacturer and should be no bigger than three inches at the top of the windshield. “While it may seem trivial to some people, tinting your front windshield can have serious, unintended consequences for other drivers and even pedestrians who cannot make eye contact with the driver before crossing the street,” he wrote in a post on X. “A vehicle with front windshield tint could also be deemed unfit for the road and could fail a safety inspection. This could result in having your plate seized and vehicle towed.” The fine for having illegal colour coating is $110.
