A 19-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after crashing her motorcycle into a utility pole on Cadboro Bay Road early Wednesday morning.

Saanich police say a member of the public called in the crash at around 4:30 a.m.

The woman was said to be in serious condition, and police shut down Cadboro Bay Road between Seacroft Place and Dawe Road while a traffic analyst investigated.

The road was shut down for more than four hours with a detour available via Arbutus Road.

Police are now trying to piece together what caused the crash and want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the motorcyclist driving in the area prior to it when it happened.

“Our main priority is the welfare of the driver and we want her to receive medical attention first,” said Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.

No one else was involved in the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
