Firefighters are trying identifying the cause of a fire that forced the evacuation of Victoria’s Crystal Pool.

Crews were called for a report of a fire in the sauna at the Quadra Street facility at 3:35 p.m. Monday.

The building was evacuated and the blaze was extinguished by the time firefighters made it on scene.

Three fire engines, one rescue truck and one ladder truck responded, as well as 18 firefighters, according to Victoria Fire Department.

Crews remained at Crystal Pool to manage ventilation of smoke from the building.

The City of Victoria tweeted that the facility had reopened around 5 p.m.

No one was injured in the incident and officials say the extent of the damage is unknown.
