A central Vancouver Island highway was temporarily shut down in both directions after a vehicle erupted into flames Thursday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the blaze on Highway 4 just east of Cameron Lake.
Both lanes of the highway were shut down for about an hour with no detour, according to Drive BC.
Pictures and video sent in to CTV News showed the vehicle fully engulfed by flames with a tower of smoke pouring from it.
The highway was reopened just before 4 p.m., but Drive BC warned motorists to expect up to 30-minute delays on the route.
No word on what sparked the vehicle fire or whether anyone was injured.
