There were dramatic moments on Victoria's Dallas Road Thursday night as a driver suffered a medical emergency and collided with a cyclist.
Just after 7 p.m., a van heading west first struck several parked cars in the 1400-block of Dallas Road, according to police.
It then struck the cyclist, throwing them and leaving the bike lodged in the van's grill.
Both the cyclist and the driver of the van were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses said the cyclist appeared to have blood on his face, but he was conscious as he was transported away.
"It was terrifying. We came as fast as we could to find the guy who got hit," said Holly Peterson. "He made it up okay which is good, it looks like he didn't get hurt too bad but even getting hit by a car is scary enough as it is."
Police later determined the driver of the van suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
The crash is not being investigated as a hit-and-run, police confirmed.
