A B.C. woman says she felt disrespected by Foreign Affairs Minister Stephane Dion when he made a gesture in the House of Commons during discussion of her children's alleged abduction to Iran by her ex-husband.

Alison Azer, who was sitting in the public gallery at the time, says she was shocked to see Dion make a dismissive thumbs-down gesture when the issue of her ordeal came up.

Dion says the gesture was aimed at Conservative MP Michael Cooper, and that he was signalling his disapproval of the way the Conservatives were trying to score political points.

Cooper had accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of doing nothing to bring home Azer's kids, who were allegedly abducted 15 months ago.
