A 20-year-old woman remains in critical condition after a suspected alcohol-fuelled crash south of Duncan Wednesday night.

Police said a flatbed truck travelling southbound at around 6 p.m. turned left from the Trans-Canada Highway onto Fisher Road, directly into the path of a white BMW heading northbound.

The vehicles collided and the BMW burst into flames.

A young woman, a passenger in the BMW, was rushed to hospital.

Two others were taken to hospital with lesser injuries and paramedics treated a fourth person at the scene.

Crash analysts are still trying to piece together what happened, but police confirmed they’re investigating the driver of the flatbed truck for possible drunk driving.

Police are now looking for any witnesses who may have seen the crash. They’re asked to call South Island Traffic Services at 250-416-0352.
