If you are enjoying the cooler temperatures after the recent heat streak, you will enjoy conditions on Friday in southern Manitoba. If you like your early June days hot, you will enjoy the weekend. Much of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Brandon and Dauphin, will see temperatures in the low to mid-20s, a mix of sun and cloud and light winds on Friday. Northern regions will hit highs in the low 20s, but with more of a patchwork of sky conditions. Some areas will be on the sunny side, including Flin Flon and Lynn Lake, while clouds will linger over Tadoule Lake. Most other northern communities will see a mix of sun and cloud. A low over northwestern Ontario Friday will help keep skies cloudy over the region, while highs climb into the mid-20s. The sky will clear Friday night across much of Manitoba ahead of a hot and sunny day across much of the province. In the south, temperatures will shoot into the low 30s on Saturday, while daytime highs in the north will climb into the mid-20s as far north as Gillam and Lynn Lake. Temperatures in Thompson could rise to 27 C. Meanwhile, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said there is a potent severe weather risk for western Manitoba on Saturday along a warm front over the region. By Sunday, humidity will be much higher across the south in the heat, setting the stage for potentially severe weather, including in Winnipeg. If you have any outdoor activities planned, including the thousands who will take part in Sunday’s Pride Parade in Winnipeg, expect hot temperatures in the low 30s, with humidex values in the upper 30s.
