After wicked weekend weather across southwestern Manitoba and the Interlake, those areas should get a break on Monday. Still, the threat of severe weather will return to the south soon. Until then, Monday will be warm and windy for much of southern Manitoba on Monday. Most areas will see sunshine and strong and gusty south winds. Daytime highs in Winnipeg and the rest of the southeast will climb into the mid to upper 20s, while more seasonal temperatures in the low to mid-20s are expected in Brandon and around the southwest. The chance is low, but Environment and Climate Chance Canada (ECCC) said thunderstorms can’t be ruled out in the southeast corner on Monday afternoon, thanks to a passing cold front. The weather agency said there is a slightly better chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Meanwhile, light rain is moving through the most northern parts of the northwest. ECCC said another severe weather outbreak looks likely in southern Manitoba on Tuesday. A warm front associated with a low expected to form over western North Dakota will combine with moisture-laden south winds from the U.S. They could be triggers for severe thunderstorms to develop in the afternoon. The weather agency said all severe threats are possible – large hail, strong winds, heavy rain, and tornadoes.
