After a sensational Sunday with sunshine and soaring temperatures, conditions on Monday leave a lot to be desired. May the fourth be with you. Expect cool, single-digit daytime highs in very strong and gusty northwest winds in Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba in the afternoon. Showers or even flurries can’t be ruled out, either. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, a low pressure system over northwestern Ontario is to blame. Showers and flurries are even more likely there on Monday. Northwest winds are strong across the region, and temperatures will struggle to climb above the freezing mark. In fact, Dryden could see temperatures fall below 0 C on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, most of northern Manitoba will be grazed with light snow on Monday. The highest forecast snowfall amounts, two to four centimetres, are expected in Tadoule Lake and Churchill. Temperatures in most northern communities should reach close to 0 C. Ahead Monday night, strong wind gusts should ease up for a few hours in Winnipeg, before redeveloping on Tuesday. Tuesday will be another grey, cool and windy day in the city. By Wednesday and Thursday, some sunshine should peek out from behind the clouds, though temperatures will remain unseasonably cool. A warm-up will begin on Friday, but it will be the weekend before seasonal temperatures in the mid-teens return.
