Krush was a band formed by engineering students at Western University which played at area venues until the death of it’s bass player one year ago. Following a skateboarding accident, Riley Cerovcec passed away after suffering a traumatic brain injury. “I miss reminiscing with him,” says Rory Osborne a band member and classmate of Riley. “He was always such a presence on stage and full of life.” Joey Hodes who was also part of the band and friend of Riley’s said, “He always had a smile on his face.” Since the death the band no longer performs regularly but they are getting back together to raise money for the Kidney Foundation with a benefit concert named Krush 4 Riley. It’s taking place on Labour Day weekend at the London Music Hall on the night of Saturday, Sept. 5. “The Kidney Foundation has always been near and dear to Riley, his mother had a kidney transplant as well as his uncle,” says Osborne. “When Riley died five of his organs were donated to help others.” Hodes says Riley would be proud that the band is getting back together saying, “It’s something the band members talked about and a great way to help a great cause.” They are hoping to raise $20,000 that night and ticket to the show are on sale on London Music Hall website or on the Krush Instagram page. “We play all kinds of rock and some country as well,” says Hodes. Osborne says Riley would have loved this benefit concert saying, “I will always miss my friend.”
